The islands North side holds the bulk of the trendy, beautiful and sophisticated tourist areas. In the East, you’ll find Port Antonio, the eastern stretch of the Blue Mountain and the “Bush”, Jamaica’s rain forest.

Here the people are as gracious and hospitable as the scenery is beautiful. The mountain breeze is ever fragrant, cool, and soft upon your skin and it’s here that you’ll find the home and estate of Jack Stewart. The locals call this area Stewart Town. Stewart Town is named for a legendary rascal and local entrepreneur Jack Stewart, and it sits on one of the most picturesque sites on the island. High up in this mountainous region of the island Jack Stewart lived and worked the fields. Jack enjoyed countless adventures and fun in the pristine forests and deep gullies that make up this region of Jamaica. Most of the land comprising Stewart Town was originally banana, mango and papaya plantations. When slavery was abolished the slaves stayed on and continued to work the fields. A lot of the people inhabiting these properties yet today are descendants of those slaves. Jack Stewart and his sons worked this land too. He and his sons built a sugar mill, opened a grocery, farmed banana, mango, sugar cane and coconut and they even did a little land speculating. They gave this area its name and identity.

Out here in the bush a man had to work hard to provide for his family and Jack Stewart was no exception. The locals often said that the good Lord gave ol’ Jack an extra 2 hours a day as a reward for his hard work. Jack was ever working and planning toward the future. Jack also had a penchant for fun, and mischief. It's said that ol' Jack liked the ladies too (this might account for all them Stewarts in the neighborhood!).
